Best Job for a Hockey Fan
This is my second blog post if you notice grammar/spelling mistakes like no tomorrow, brace yourself.
I have two jobs, one involves getting paid to attend NHL Ottawa Senators home games and watch hockey. I am a beer vendor, yes the one that yells "ICEEE COOOOLD BEER HEEEERRREEE" while traveling up and down what seems to be 90 degree angle flights of stairs, with 50lbs + of Canadian domestic beer in my hands. Its a competitve enviornment considering they're about 15 of us "Beer Hawkers" competing for top beer sales. The way i tend to describe my job is by telling people that you can compare my job to living in a jungle.
Before the game starts, I stand yelling out at people in attempt to draw them in to purchase my beer. It is first come first serve when it comes to where us beer hawkers stand at the begining of the game. For example, if a co-worker of mine finds a spot where there is a high traffic area of people, he will post up and start yelling and selling beer. This high traffic area is now off limits to me if I were to even think about selling in his "territory". I then move on with intentions of finding a high traffic area before another beer hawker steals it. Once you find a steady, consistant spot, you realize how many people you see and how many people think a like. For example, my main spot to sell beer before the game is between the entrance and exit of the mens washroom (genius, I know), but the more I yell, the more people I draw in that walk up to me cautiously like a fish would to a lure in the water and than they look and stare and turn and walk away. Not everyone, but a lot of people.
During the hockey game, while I am wandering up and down stairs selling beer, it is my job to sit and watch the hockey game until there is a whistle, commercial break, or the period has ended. I have to sit and watch because I am not allowed to sell or move during game place due to the fans, I potentially get fired if a fan complains I was in the way of their view.
In conclusion, I get paid $8.90/h plus tips (main source of income) to analyze people, sell beer, and watch the greatest sport on earth.
Here is a picture of me hanging out in an empty arena before the 2012 All Star game Ottawa hosted that I worked.

Last and Final Stretch
This is potentially my last week of college, it wasn't as easy going as I first thought and im glad I was able to make the transition from highschool to college. I met a lot of great people and learned a lot in terms of responsibility and maturity. This is my graduation song
